SuperFine Combs

These are a niche comb. They are meant for superfine, silky and/or very short superfine fibers. If you comb a lot of kid mohair, superfine alpaca, angora bunny or similar, or superfine finewools, then these would be great to have in your fiber prep tool kit!
Each comb has 74 (25 in the front and the back row, 24 in the middle row) polished, hardened steel tines that are 1/16″ diameter, about 3″ long, and set 1/8″ on center, on a 4" wide head with a working width of 3".
The tines are set in Delrin, a highly durable resin, which is bolted to the hard maple head. This is done because the holes drilled for the tines are so close together that there wouldn't be the strength if they were set in wood. The Delrin is stiff and stable and will securely hold the tines in place.
The tines have a long taper to a sharp point and should never need straightening with normal use. They are flexible enough to take abuse, and still bounce back to their intended alignment.
The tines have a very slight curve near the tip, which helps them clear each other without interference.
The handle is 1" in diameter, about 5" long and is made of unfinished hard maple.
Total weight for the pair is about 18 ounces.
